Dan O'Hara's Heritage & History Centre

At the Heritage Centre the family share the history, heritage, culture & traditions of the Connemara. The centre is based around the restored prefamine cottage of Dan O' Hara who was forced to emigrate in the 1840's when he was evicted from his home.
The audio visual introduces Dan O' Hara's Story & the history of the area. The history & artefacts room has articles and displays on Connemara through the Ages and many items of historical and cultural interest.
The Centre offers:
- History presentation ''Connemara through the ages'' in Irish and English.
- Audio visual available in English, Irish, German and French.
- Reconstructions of a crannóg, a ring fort and a clochaun
- Dan O'Hara Homestead & Pre famine farm
- Guided tours for groups with turf cutting and other demonstrations on request
- Craft shop with a large selection of knitwear, marble, jewellery and other gifts to choose from.
- Restaurant serving teas, coffee, cakes, scones, lunches. Special deals available for groups
- Farmhouse accommodation available with information about activities and amenities in the area.
